There are many ways you can help the collies and shelties. We sure could use your help with the following...

FOSTER HOME
Volunteers needed to provide a temporary home for a collie or sheltie awaiting adoption. You provide the love in a safe environment, and we provide the funds to meet all expenses.

Why I Foster:  The following was written by Arizona collie and sheltie rescue volunteer Cindy Reel.

"Brent and I have been fostering for rescue for many years now, hard to believe! It has become such a natural part of our lives and as if we have been doing this forever, so much so that I can't remember what we did with all our time before! It has become part of our existence and has given a special purpose to our life on this earth. Cindy's foster collieJust yesterday I was called upon to check on a little girl at the pound. She was a frightened little thing, the first attendant that opened her kennel for me, said she wasn't sure if we could help her, "she is going to take a lot of work," she stated. I replied that we still wanted to help her, so she went and got their handler to get her out and ready for me to take her home.

The handler put her in the back seat of my Blazer on a soft blanket I had prepared and off we went, on the way home she nuzzled the back of my arm, as if to say "thanks!" Last night she slept in our bed and gave us kisses, we comforted her with gentle pets when she whimpered. This morning she is happily running and playing with my dogs and following me around the house.

This is a dog that was going to be put down yesterday, if we had not helped. This is only one of many dogs that have needed our help in getting a second chance. That is why we continue to foster and open our hearts and home to a rescue in need. This is the most rewarding work I have ever experienced, need I say more?

ADOPTERS
Adopt a collie for your very own! Provide a permanent, loving home for a collie in need. We have a modest adoption fees that help to cover our rescuing costs such as veterinarian fees, grooming fees, shelter bail out fees, transportation of collies, food and supplies. For more information please go to the Adopting A Collie page.

TRANSPORTERS
AS a three-state rescue, SWCSR frequently has a need to transport a dog from one city/state to another either to get the dog into a foster home or have the dog transported to an adoptor.
